Student Access Support

At Bastyr University, we want to ensure that ALL students are thriving as they pursue their degrees.

Overview

The Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act of 2008 (ADAAA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and other related state and local requirements regarding students and applicants with disabilities, guide the services provided to qualified students with disabilities at Bastyr University.  Under these laws, no qualified individual with a disability shall be denied access to or participation in services, programs and activities of Bastyr University. In carrying out the University’s policy regarding students and applicants with disabilities, Bastyr University is committed to providing equitable access to learning opportunities for all students.

Bastyr University welcomes qualified students with disabilities (e.g. mental health, attentional, learning, chronic health, sensory, or physical) who meet the technical standards of the program, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Mission and Vision

The mission of the Student Access and Accommodations (SAA) Office is to provide resources and services designed to encourage and support the inclusion of students with disabilities into Bastyr University’s diverse community. The SAA Office assists in creating an accessible university community where students with disabilities have an equal opportunity to fully participate in all aspects of the educational environment. We cooperate through partnerships with students, faculty, and staff to promote students' equal access to all of Bastyr University’s programs and strive to fully reflect the diverse communities in which we live, learn, and work.

Our vision is to promote the full participation and inclusion for students with disabilities in health and professional programs by promoting a greater understanding and awareness of inclusion, diversity, and accessibility issues.
