Bastyr University Graduates Expand Health Care Workforce When America Needs it Most

[KENMORE, WA] Bastyr University, with campuses in Kenmore Washington and San Diego California, celebrates graduation for 218 mostly doctorate and master’s degree students.
“Congratulations to the very impressive Bastyr University Class of 2023!” says Bastyr University President Devin Byrd, Ph.D. “This cohort is distinguished because they remained steadfast in their desire to transform the health and wellbeing of the human community while they navigated the most massive health crisis in a generation.”
Two commencement ceremonies are being held:
- Monday, June 26 at 10 a.m. the commencement ceremony for Kenmore, WA campus graduates takes place at Benaroya Hall in downtown Seattle. Faisa Farole, CPM, LM, CLC and Jane Guiltinan, ND are the commencement speakers.
- Friday, June 30 at 1 p.m. the commencement ceremony for San Diego campus graduates takes place at Liberty Station. Carrie Louise Daenell, ND is the commencement speaker.
Bastyr University recently announced plans to expand its presence with new online programs in Nutrition and Psychology and a $1M federal grant to expand access to Midwifery programs for students from marginalized communities.
Kenmore Campus Commencement Speaker Faisa Farole, CPM, LM, CLC is a birth equity advocate and Bastyr University alumna. Farole is the founder and executive director of Global Perinatal Services, a non-profit organization that provides midwifery and doula care to low-income, Black, refugee, and immigrant pregnant people, often free of charge.
San Diego Campus Commencement Speaker Carrie Louise Daenell, ND is an author, frequent media contributor, and Bastyr University alumna who focuses on metabolism and the aging body. She will speak about the intrinsic connection between mind, body, and spirit.
