Recipe: Smoky Hot Vegan BBQ Sauce

A great addition to any BBQ, this sauce uses wholesome dates for an unusual, caramel-like sweetness and chipotle peppers for the smoky hotness! A perfect combination for all your healthy BBQ lovers!

Prep time: 10 minutes
Yields: about 1 cup


Ingredients

  • ½ cup tomato paste
  • ¼ cup dates, pitted
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 chipotle pepper in adobo sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • Water as needed


Instructions

Place all ingredients (except for water) in a blender and pulse. Add a tablespoon of water at a time until desired consistency is achieved. Store in a glass jar with a lid in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
