Mental Health

Mental attitudes and emotions are essential elements of overall health, and are just as important as your physical health.

If you are suffering from depression or anxiety, you’re not alone. According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, 1 in 5 Americans struggle with mental health issues daily. To support your whole health, Bastyr Clinic's Counseling Department offers talk therapy support for patients dealing with depression, fatigue, work-related stress, relationship issues, life transitions, and health problems, especially chronic ones.

How We Can Help

If you are struggling with stress, sleep, anxiety or depression issues, the first step is to make a medical appointment to make sure there are not any medical issues underlying your symptoms and establish a solid diagnosis.  Thyroid issues, anemia and multiple nutritional issues can cause or exacerbate mental health symptoms.

Work with our teams to make sure appropriate testing, solid nutrition and medications (natural and pharmaceutical) are utilized to their best advantages.

How our brain and body interpret the signals we receive from the outside world can have a profound effect on our stress levels and emotional well-being.  This shift is specifically designed to help you learn the tools to uncouple and re-route patterns of behavior and responses to outside stimuli.

This technique helps you learn to use your own bodily signals to improve your health and well-being. You can gain control over physical reactions that are usually considered unconscious or automatic.

Our counseling department offers talk therapy support for patients dealing with depression, fatigue, work-related stress, relationship issues, life transitions, and health problems, especially chronic ones.

Team care sessions are ideally suited to provide short-term treatment (typically no more than 12 sessions). Appointments are generally scheduled every week. Student clinicians closely supervised by a licensed mental health professional oversee the sessions. They refer to outside services when appropriate. The sessions are available in person or through telehealth for a fee of $35 per session.
