Mara supervises Masters of Art in Counseling & Psychology students at the teaching clinic at BCNH.

Biography

Mara Serafin is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with 20 years of clinical experience as a therapist, supervisor and director in residential treatment settings. Mara has also been with Bastyr University since 2020 as an adjunct professor for the counseling program and is looking forward to joining the naturopathic team. Over the span of her career, Mara has worked with adolescents and adults with substance use concerns, mood disorders and eating disorders. Mara draws from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Mara enjoys direct clinical work and continues to lead weekly groups, individuals sessions and family education groups. When Mara is not at work, she enjoys reading, photography and visiting national parks. Mara has visited over 30 national parks to date with a goal to visit them all!
